Peony Hillary (Itoh)

On the site of The American Peony Society I read that Hillary is a seedling of the Bartzella. Once you know that you can see it too. The whole plant is also top, large, healthy, sturdy and richly flowering. The same with her flowers, also large, perhaps a little less double than the flowers of her mother. What Hillary does have that her mother does not or hardly has is that wonderful color gradient during her flowering. Special about the color change of Hillary is that her heart seems to become more fiery during her flowering while the ends of her petals do their best to appear sweeter and softer. Hillary lets her heart speak.
