What a special year. Fortunately, we can still send the orders from the Fluwel website , but nothing else happens in the barn. The girls from the office are working from home and all visitors who were supposed to come have cancelled.

In years when it is very busy with visitors you sometimes hope that you can have a day alone to judge and select seedlings. But now that I am walking alone for a week I find that there is little point in that either.

But we have to get through it and make the best of it, that's the way it is. And if everyone adheres to the regulations and advice, the virus cannot spread and it will be over as soon as possible.

Luckily it is spring, a great time to study in the garden, especially with this weather. I often think of all the people who live in the city and don't have a garden. But if you do have a garden, you can at least enjoy it to the fullest.

This is a great time to plant your summer flowering bulbs and tubers. If you plant dahlias now, be careful that they don't get a bite from the night frost. Cover them if night frost is predicted and they are already above ground.
