The Allium sphaerocephalon ... Just about the most difficult name I had to learn at secondary horticultural school. They are also called drumsticks and that sounds a lot better. A very appropriate name too. A fairly cheap bulb with which you can give your garden a special decoration. Drumsticks bloom when most perennials are already well into the leaves but are not yet showing flowers. Plant them in large numbers, nicely loose through the plant border and you will enjoy them a lot.
