The “must-have” among the miniature tulips. How beautiful and how special. The 'Alba Coerulea Oculata' is a rare variant of the species Tulipa humilis. The species Tulipa humilis is somewhat variable in color and very sporadically you can find a white one.
Over the years only a few have been found, but until now this Alba Coerulea Oculata is the most reliable for the garden or in the pot. It was first introduced by the flower bulb company Van Tubergen who had found it in the west of Iran at the beginning of the last century. For a long time it was traded under the name Tulipa pulchella Alba, but nowadays its official name is Tulipa humilis Alba Coerulea Oculata.
Don't plant her in full sun, she doesn't like the heat. Her leaves will shrivel if she is in full sun around noon. Better find a cooler spot in the garden, not too dark but also not too sunny.
