Darwinnow

Darwi in this name refers to 'Darwin hybrid' Tulip. Among flower bulb growers and Tulip lovers this is a well-known term that refers to a certain type of Tulip. Tulip breeders have often crossed late flowering tulips, which used to be called 'Darwin Tulips', with Tulips that descend from the species Tulipa fosteriana. Tulips of this type are called Darwin hybrid tulips. But the breeders never succeeded in obtaining a beautiful white tulip from such a cross. They did not even come close to white.
