As its name might suggest, this beautiful star hyacinth originates from the island of Madeira and the nearby archipelago in the North Atlantic Ocean. When I spoke to a plant friend last year who had a few bulbs left over, I didn't hesitate to ask if I could have some too.I potted it up right away in October , before we planted anything else in the fields. A few weeks later in late autumn it produced its first beautiful flower sprays in one of the most beautiful shades of lavender I have ever seen. What a beautiful spectacle in my living room, which even lasted for weeks.
