Ornithogalum ponticum Sochi

If you want to try something fun, plant this flower bulb. It originates from the Caucasus Mountains and is named after the beautiful Russian city on the Black Sea where the 2014 Winter Olympics were held.

Ornithogalum ponticum Sochi is super hardy and does well in a sunny spot in the garden, she does not really like wetness. She starts to bloom at the end of May at a height of about 40 cm. After that she blooms for at least another 3 weeks with new flowers opening on her slowly growing flower stems. At the end of her bloom she is about 75 cm long.

It is more than worth trying, its airy inflorescence and long-lasting bloom will certainly surprise you. It is also remarkably good as a cut flower in the vase and fantastically beautiful in a cheerful bouquet with wild flowers.
