Snipe

A Narcissus for the true enthusiast. In the year 1948 it was introduced in Wales and during that time it has been frequently traded and exchanged among many Narcissus enthusiasts all over the world. However, there has never been anyone who has grown it on a larger scale and brought it to the market.

Strange, because this Narcissus is certainly worth growing for a larger audience. She is so graceful, everyone who sees her wants her. In addition to her gracefulness, she is also a grateful Narcissus that naturalizes very well. I have been growing Snipe for years for a few English mail order companies who then resell her to Narcissus and rock garden plant lovers. The demand is always greater than the supply, so I can hardly get enough to also offer her in the Fluwel webshop.

I was very happy and surprised when I suddenly saw a pot at a Hyacinth dealer's office. 'Snipe?' I said in surprise, how did you get that? To which he said 'how is it possible that you know the name of this Narcissus, there is no one who grows it and no one who knows its name.

That's how I found out that one of the larger flower bulb growers grows a decent amount of this sweet Narcissus Snipe. When I visited him he told me why, she does so well in pots. In the winter months we force Narcissi and Hyacinths in pots for the auction, he continued, but we also sell a few from a small shop in the barn.

Years ago we bought a few bulbs of Snipe from your father and after a few years of growing it turned out to be by far the most popular Daffodil in our shop. That is why we have a stock, for our own sales from our shop. I immediately asked him if he had any extra bulbs, to offer them to me because I have been trying for years in vain to get my stock big enough for the Fluwel webshop.
