This particularly warm yellow coloured narcissus is a selection of the wild Narcissus x odorus. This odorus appears to be a wild hybrid between the pseudo narcissus and the jonquilla narcissus. That they called it 'odorus', we are talking about hundreds of years ago, is easy to understand if you have ever had it in a vase. What a wonderfully scented narcissus. Orange Queen is just like the rest of the odorus narcissi, just as richly flowering and just as strong, they introduced it in 1908 as a separate selection because of its unparalleled warm colour.
