Dahlia Blue Bayou

To be honest, sometimes I don't like the names that flower bulb growers and breeders give to their products at all. They can just come up with names like Starfighter, Strong King, Cannonball, Killerbody, Crossfire (nice car, but does the lady who is going to buy it know it?) Dragline and Power Play. In short, all names that you can immediately see that there is no feminine or other romantic idea behind them. In my opinion, they are simply rubbish names. And if there is a bulb farmer with a lovely yellow tulip that goes by the nice name Yellow Baby, and he finds a red flamed mutant in his batch, he will call this variant Flaming Baby without batting an eyelid. Dear bulb farmers, please ask your wife, daughter or neighbour if they know a nice name, but please don't come up with something yourself. Think of that sweet lady who is going to plant this flower bulb in her garden, do you really think that this lady is looking forward to seeing a Flaming Baby in her beautiful terracotta pot from Florence this spring?

Now you probably think that I don't like the name Blue Bayou at all for this lavender pink Dahlia. No, I think this name is fantastic! Lovely, makes you dream away, a touch of romance. Looking forward to better times on Blue Bayou, Were the folks are fine and the world is mine on Blue Bayou . Lovely song, lovely Dahlia and yes, with a little imagination there is certainly a touch of blue in her flowers. I want a Blue Bayou in my garden!
