The early blooming flowers are small, but large in number and with color, as if heaven has fallen to earth. This inexpensive bulb really deserves to be planted more often, because it does naturalize like no other.
The seeds of the Chionodoxa have an ant bread (see inset) which ensures that every fallen seed is taken by the ants. The sweet bread is eaten and the bitter seed is planted; more glory of the snow in the garden, isn't it beautiful.
