The whitest Narcissus at our nursery, named after a world-famous green writer in America. Amos Pettingill is the pseudonym under which the founders of the specialist plant nursery White Flower Farm, Mr. William B. Harris and his wife Jane Grant, have written countless articles since 1930 to interest the American public in plants. To this day, this pseudonym is still used by the great team at White Flower Farm for all their publications about plants and flower bulbs.
At the 75th anniversary of White Flower Farm, the request came to name a Narcissus after Amos Pettingill as a gift to the current owner Eliot Wadsworth. With great pleasure and gratitude I have selected the best and most beautiful white Narcissus at our nursery. In America, Amos Pettingill has become a wildly popular Narcissus that is planted annually by thousands of gardeners. I sincerely hope that you too will seize the opportunity to admire Amos Pettingill in your garden.
As early as 1930 this legendary writer wrote: “In all of horticulture there isn't a finer bulb for naturalizing” in one of the first Garden Books. As you can see, this writer knew his stuff.
