Amaryllis Elvas

A bright white Amaryllis with a burning heart, what a beautiful contrast. It was love at first sight when I first saw this beautiful Amaryllis. I was even more delighted when it turned out that it also does very well as a potted plant. Always two sturdy stems, sometimes a third, and flowers that bloom for a long time. Definitely worth trying.

The colour difference you see in the photos is caused by the light intensity. With more light, the red colour in the heart of the flower becomes more intense. Under darker conditions, the red is less bright and the graceful red edges on the petals seem to stand out more. When I see Elvas in the greenhouse at the Amaryllis grower in March, her colours are much sharper than they were in my living room in January. But a lot or a little red, Elvas is simply beautiful.
