Our flower bulb mixtures

The mixtures and combinations are not the most sold flower bulbs in the Fluwel webshop and that surprises me a little and on the other hand not. It does not surprise me because I think that many of our customers are gardeners who already have some experience with gardening and flower bulbs and know very well where Abraham gets his flower bulbs. They are not tempted by big-box terms such as free shipping and other free temptations or buy one, get two. The majority of our customers are standing with both feet in the mud, they know that free does not exist and if you do go along with it you always have to take into account that it is at the expense of the quality or the service.

Tulip mixture 'Pinotage'

You don't have to be a wine lover to love this nostalgic looking Tulip blend. Composed of modern Tulips that spread the atmosphere of yesteryear.

No, I think that many of our regular customers are no-nonsense people who, perhaps through trial and error, have learned that all goods are worth their price and that Fluwel flower bulbs are an honest product for an honest price. These more experienced gardeners probably do look at our Fluwel mixtures and combinations, but I think they do so mainly to gain inspiration and then put together combinations from our extensive range that they like themselves. That's great of course, always planting in your garden what you like yourself. But still, on the other hand, I also think that many gardeners don't always get the most out of our Tulip mixtures and combinations.

Tulip mixture 'Cool Out'

The attentive viewer can see that this mixture consists of two other beautiful Velvet Tulip mixtures. The bottom layer of flowers is the mixture 'Pink Cloud', the black and white on top is the 'Black Tie'. Planted separately, two completely different atmospheres but combined a planting that knows how to bring the real spring feeling into the garden.

Mixtures are often planted close together, just like the photos on our site show, so that only a few intensely coloured square metres emerge in the spring. If you have a small garden bed where it fits well, that is fine of course, but I personally think that the real charm of our mixtures lies in the atmosphere that you can create with them. Loosely throw the 100 bulbs of our mixtures through a large part of the garden and plant them where they end up. That will look very different than if you plant them man by man in a small piece. I know, I am guilty of it myself because I only show you photos where they are almost next to each other, but in my opinion that is not at its best. You will see that if you plant them generously through the garden or border, your entire garden will come to life in the spring instead of a small part blooming while the rest of the garden is still doing its best to wake up from its winter sleep.

Tulip mixture 'Glow Motion'

In slow motion the Glow Motion changes from soft pastel shades to lively temperamental colours. During its flowering it slowly warms up to set your garden on fire.

Trying out a few of our mixtures or combinations can also inspire you to look at Tulips with different eyes. I am sure that if you have seen an interesting flowering mixture in your garden, you will also look to see if there is something else nice to combine with the many varieties in our webshop. Tastes differ and you may want to combine white and yellow Tulips. I would immediately advise you to look for a third colour, but here we go again, that is not what you should do. The nice thing about gardening is to try something that you think is nice. It is a learning process, but if you start planting and looking at mixtures, you will look at the many varieties that we offer with completely different eyes next year. Just do it once, it is really nice and educational.

Tulip mixture 'Cupido'

A tuft of white tulips is and will always remain just a tuft of white tulips. So is red, that is also just red. Beautiful, but such a tuft has white or roof, it actually always needs support from another color in its environment to really be able to pop. However, if you mix two equally toned red and white tulips together, you really don't know what you see. Like Cupid 's arrows, her beauty hits you right in the heart. To fall in love with.

Tulip mixture 'Big Ups'

A real no-nonsense Tulip mixture of sturdy, sturdy Tulips that do what they are supposed to do; make your garden look like a Tulip garden in the blink of an eye. It is a mixture of 8 different Darwin hybrid Tulips that are among the first to bloom in the Tulip flowering season. These Tulips are known for their large, beautifully shaped flowers that always bloom for an astonishingly long time.

Tulip mixture 'Tutti Tulpi'

Of course I can't leave her unmentioned, our most popular Tulip mixture. This one sells like crazy, everyone wants to see her. It is actually quite unique, every tulip in the bag of 50 Tulip bulbs is a different type. Truly a ratatouille of all the beauty that the Tulip has to offer. Give this Tutti Tulpi a nice spot in your garden and as a thank you the Tutti Tulpi will give a garden full of viewing pleasure. For the more amorous gardeners there is also the Tutti Tulpi Romantico .

Tulip mixture Family Reunion

The flowers of these cheerful Tulips are not as big as the flowers of for example the Big Ups or the Glow Motion but they are standing with a whole bunch on a stick. Really beautiful, each stem gives four five sometimes more flowers and often a stem with a flower also secretly emerges from the leaf axils of these Tulips. This mixture with its festive character is fantastic to plant widely throughout the garden.

Hopefully I've given you some fun ideas, time to stop.

Kind regards,

Carlos van der Veek

Tulipa clusiana mixture

Also nice, a mixture of small tulips. If these tulips feel at home in your garden, they can also naturalize well.
