The Winter Sleep Reading A meter is 2 beers shorter 5 minutes Next Newsletters

A meter is 2 beers shorter.

Yes, that was the most talked about thing during the many chats we had with the children during the last holiday period. They are all students and nightlife so there are many great stories. The most talked about thing was that a meter suddenly, out of nowhere, became 2 beers shorter. Truly a drastic change, the stability under their feet has completely disappeared. All calculation methods, mnemonics and other interesting facts that could be traced back to a meter of beer are now suddenly 2 beers shorter.

Amaryllis Sunshine Nymph

We know that students can only handle whole meters from the Corona rule of keeping a distance of one and a half meters. That was beyond them, students only do whole meters. Half a meter... how many beers is that? Fortunately, there was a guy with a brilliant brain among the Leiden students at the time who, after entering complicated arithmetic formulas, managed to calculate that one and a half meters of beer corresponded to the length of 9 frikandellen. Brilliant, everyone in student life understands that.
This ingenious invention spread like wildfire through all universities and everyone knew exactly how much distance they had to keep from each other: 9 Frikandellen. Let's hope that this Corona rule will never come back because if a meter is 2 beers shorter, then you will also have to keep a few frikandellen less distance. Student life is so hard and complicated.

We'll leave this important news for a while because before you know it you'll be telling us that the same package of pancake mix now contains one less pancake. We'll continue with our hobby; the Amaryllises .

It's a big party in our greenhouse, one after the other they are coming into bloom.

Enjoying it to the fullest, very nice but above all very educational. See here in the foreground the Amaryllis Chico . Not really visible in this photo but her flowers are truly a miracle of Mother Nature.

Amaryllis Chico

50 to 60 centimeters is what you can read in the product description in our webshop. This year they reached 80, learned something new, I shouldn't believe everything I write.

Amaryllis Blossom Nymph

A positive standout is the Blossom Nymph. She is in my greenhouse for the first time and she does exactly what is expected of her; beautiful, long and rich flowering with the seductive color of cherry blossom. Normally I don't do it that often, offer an Amaryllis that I haven't tried first, but the grower of the Blossom Nymph guaranteed me that this brand new double Amaryllis would not disappoint anyone. He was right, she is fantastic.

Amaryllis Dancing Queen

Dancing Queen is also always good. She has been in the trade for years and when you see something a lot it slowly starts to become normal. But of course she is still just as special as she has always been. Two thick stems that are happily blooming at the same time with often the third stem already on its way, just an Amaryllis that makes you happy.

Amaryllis Marilyn

The Amaryllis Marilyn , I have to mention that one too. What a show-off she is, what incredibly large flowers. She is really not the most beautiful and perfect double white Amaryllis but her wonderfully large floppy flowers simply appeal to the imagination. A real treat when she is in bloom.

Amaryllis Double Delicious

Double Delicious also seems like it can't go wrong, always does it and always does it beautifully. Next week I will report more about all the beauty in my greenhouse. If you don't have Amaryllis at home yet, take a look in our shop, there are still many beautiful varieties available. If you plant them now, they will bloom around Valentine's Day.
You will probably think "Carlos also easily shits about a straw, he has a greenhouse, they always do it there". That is also true, but in the living room they really do just as well. When the greenhouse was not there yet, they were always in my house. Maybe a bit longer of stem because it was a bit darker, but otherwise just as good and just as beautiful. Just do it, get some nice Amaryllises in the house and enjoy them.
